Congratulations on the winners of the throwing and running races. A special trophy was given for perseverance throughout Healthy Fortnight.

We have had a fabulous time taking part in lots of different sports during 'Healthy Fortnight'. We enjoyed Zumba, Climbing, Rugby, Tennis, Drumba and Sports Day. We even had a visit from an Olympic Gymnast.

We celebrated the Platinum Jubilee today and learnt all about the Queen.

Ooh aargh me hearties! Class 2 have loved learning about pirates as part of our topic 'Splish, Splosh, Splash'. They have made fantastic pirate ships, learnt pirate songs, investigated floating and sinking, painted pirates, written descriptions of pirates, role-played pirates and used treasure to problem solve. We even had a pirate treasure hunt!

We have loved gardening. Look out for the new plants in the Reception playground.

We went for a walk around West Bridgford as part of our topic 'On Our Doorstep'. We got to see St Gile's Church, West Bridgford library, The Registry Office and all the cafes, shops and restaurants. We then went for a fun play in West Bridgford Park!

Class 2 worked together just like 'The Collaboration Kids' to make dens.

Thank you to one of our wonderful parents for organising an ambulance, doctor, nurse and St John Ambulance driver to visit us this week. The children had a great time finding out about what you do. They even got to sit in the drivers seat of the ambulance to work the flashing lights and the siren! Thank you also to another wonderful set of parents who sent in some doctor and nurse equipment to share with the children.

We are learning about People Who Help Us. We have had an exciting week with visits from the Police Officers and Fire Brigade. Class 2 have been asking lots of fantastic questions to learn about what they do. We have been reading books to learn more about different jobs in our community.

Terry and his guide dog Charlie came to visit us. We thought of some fantastic questions to ask and brought in some donations for the Guide Dogs. Charlie was so well behaved!

We had great fun celebrating World Book Day. We got to dress in our pyjamas and read our favourite bedtime stories. The author Michelle Robinson joined us all the way from Canada to share and talk about her books.

Yay! Class 2 won the 'Star Trophy' in Shining Star assembly. Well done, you are all shining stars.

We learnt and performed an animal poem from 'Rumble in the Jungle' by Giles Andreae

What a fantastic dance workshop with Robin Windsor! We learnt a dance and then had a competition to find the best dancers in Class 2. We think they could all appear on Strictly Come Dancing!

Class 2 have been learning about how people celebrate Chinese New Year. We found out if we were born in the year of the Rooster or Monkey. Look at our ribbon dancing.

We have been learning dance routines with Sporty Neve. Great concentrating class 2.

After reading the book 'Handa's Surprise' by Eileen Browne we drew some of the fruits from the story. We made our own fruit salad and had a go at tasting some of the fruit from the story. Well done Class 2.

We had a fantastic time drumming with Andy from the Power of Drums. We learnt about the djembe drums from Africa and how to play different rhythms and we followed a beat.

We have read stories and looked at information books to find out about Africa and the animals which live there. We have painted, drawn and made clay animals, had fun spotting animals in the safari den and looked at some African artefacts. Look at the safari trucks and the bus we have made to go on a trip on the Bobo road!

We have had lots of fun getting ready for Christmas. Class 2 have some great dance moves!

We have had a great time learning through our topic 'Space'. We have made some fantastic roaring junk box rockets, moon buggies and clay moons. We created pictures inspired by images taken from the Hubble Space Telescope, designed shape aliens and had fun cooking in the Space Cafe and lots lots more!.

We have really enjoyed celebrating Diwali and Bonfire Night this week. We have read stories, watched video clips, made cards, built a temple for Rama and Sita and did firework paintings!

Class 2 have been having lots of fun, they have especially enjoyed dressing up!

We made our own fantastic leaf men after reading 'Leaf Man' by Lois Ehlert.

We made some sculptures inspired by the artist Andy Goldsworthy.

We have had a busy few weeks settling into school with our new friends. We even took part in our first PE session with Sporty Sophie. Well done Class 2.
