Ooooooohhh arrrrrrrr me hearties!  We have really enjoyed learning about Pirates.  We have painted pirates, designed pirate ships, sung pirate songs and written sentences to describe our pirates.  We have also designed treasure maps and even been on a treasure hunt.

We also celebrated the Platinum Jubilee today and learnt

all about the Queen.

We spent a lovely day at Whitepost Farm.

We learnt lots of fantastic facts about the animals and even

got to hold some!

As part of our topic, On Our Doorstep, we went for a walk around West Bridgford.  We walked past St Gile's Church, West Bridgford library, The Registry Office, cafes, shops and restaurants.  We then went for a play in West Bridgford Park.  It was so much fun!

We had a visit from an ambulance this week.  We enjoyed sitting in the driver's seat and pressing the siren.  It was so loud!  We also made dens  and celebrated Red Nose Day by coming to school in our red clothes.

What a busy week!  We are learning about People Who Help Us and we have had visits from the Police Officers and Fire Brigade.  We have been asking lots of fantastic questions to learn about what they do.  Class 3 have been writing, role playing, painting, building and reading books to learn more about different jobs in our community.

Today, we were visited by Terry and his guide dog, Charlie.  We thought of some fantastic questions to ask and brought in some donations for the Guide Dogs. Charlie was so well behaved!

We had great fun celebrating World Book Day. We got to dress in our pyjamas and read our favourite bedtime stories. The author Michelle Robinson joined us all the way from Canada to share and talk about her books.

What a busy half term we have had in Reception.  We have been learning about Amazing Animals and reading some fantastic books.  We have learnt dances, poems, made fruit salads, written a class book, done lots of drawing and made clay snakes and enjoyed lots of learning outside.

We had a fantastic time drumming with Andy from the Power of Drums.  We learnt about the djembe drums from Africa and how to play different rhythms and we followed a beat.

We have loved learning all about Space!

We have made rockets out of different construction kits, including box modelling, watched videos about the space landings, painted pictures, learnt about the 8 planets in our solar system, learnt songs and read lots of fantastic stories and information books.

We have really enjoyed celebrating Diwali and Bonfire Night this week.  We read stories, watched video clips, made cards, built temples and did paintings!

We have really enjoyed learning about Autumn.  We read the Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert and made our own leaf people out of natural objects.

We have been so busy over the last few weeks.  Getting to know each other and making new friends!
