Newsletter May 24th 2019

Where has the time gone? It is already time to say “have a great half term”!.  We have had a wonderful half term at school with the ducklings hatching in Year 1, the Year 2 children working incredibly hard and the FS2 children have been busy learning about pirates and carrying out their water experiments. We hope you all have a brilliant week off!

Duckling Update!

It’s time to say goodbye! This will be our last duckling up date as our 7 lovely little ducklings are now going to their new home at Newton House Farm. It has been brilliant having them in school, the children have enjoyed looking after the ducklings and have learnt a great deal. If you would like to see a video of one of our ducklings hatching please see the class 5 page on our website!

Thank you to the Year 1 parents that have made a donation towards the cost of the duckling experience. If you still wish to donate, please do so through ParentPayhttps://www.parentpay.com/

Houses of Parliament

On Monday, our two Pupil Parliament representatives joined the other Rushcliffe Primary Schools on a  visit to the Houses of Parliament. They had a fantastic time and were able to visit the rooms where the MPs and Lords sit.  It was a great experience for the children to see where legislation is made and stand above where Guy Fawkes was captured. It was a fun packed day, even on the coach there and back where they played lots of games! They even got to meet Darth Vader. Please have a look on our twitter for a picture of this! @WestInfant.

Lost Property

Unnamed items in lost property will be donated to charity today. It is essential that all items are labelled and named so that if any property is lost it can be returned to the correct child. We get a huge amount of lost property in school and can only return missing items to the children if they are named.

Getting Organised!

Going into the new half term, we would like to ask parents and carers to help their children get organised for the day ahead and bring everything they need in to school. This half term we have had a lot of parents/carers coming in throughout the day to drop of forgotten items, such as book bags, water bottles, hats, PE kits and more. Please check the weather forecast before the school day to ensure your child arrives to school with everything they may need.

Red Visitor Lanyards

If anyone has accidentally taken home a red visitor lanyard, please can this be returned to the school office. We now only have one lanyard left in school. It is essential we are able to give them out to the correct visitors to ensure all staff recognise who is in school and for what reason. This is to maintain the safety of everyone within the building.

October Half Term

Just a reminder that half term in the autumn term will be two weeks as a result of the consultation held in 2017.  We will finish school on Thursday October 18th and return to school on Monday November 4th.  There is an INSET day on Friday October 18th with no children in school.
